Pet Portrait Price Guide
Starting from £200 (unframed)
Pet Portrait prices are quoted inclusive of framing and museum grade ultra low reflective glass which gives optimum viewing and clarity. From photograph to a unique painting all ready to hang, so what can be easier? True Vue glass is so clear it looks like there is no glass there!
Prices are also inclusive of post and packing and will be sent with a courier. Paintings are carefully packed in a large box with lots of padding as this easily absorbs any shock.
If possible I like to frame the paintings myself so as to ensure their safety. Therefore the price quotes are with framing included. I don’t markup the price on any frames or on the True Vue Glass. You can also choose to have your painting unframed, although I do recommend you seek a professional framer.
If you decide not to have me frame your painting then the portraits will be securely posted between two pieces of plywood. Care instructions will be enclosed as pastel as a medium is extremely delicate.
Pet Portrait Sizes
These are aperture sizes meaning the full size of your painting. Therefore the overall size to the outer edge just add the width of the frame on both sides. Paintings are framed with spacers in the rebate (unseen) thus giving a traditional classic look. I find mount boards can mark very easily especially with the pastel medium and this will eventually look unsightly.
|Portrait Size||Pet Suitability||Framed||Unframed|
|8 x 10||small pet||£240||£200|
|12 x 10||head/shoulders/dog/cat||£320||£270|
|16 x 12||one/two pets/horse – from||£550||£490|
Should you require both your dogs painted then a minimum aperture size 12″ x 16″ will be required. Price from £550 framing inclusive. For the overall size, add the frame width.

- Guidance through photograph suitability
- Mock up to reflect how your painting will look and I can out any backgrounds and replacing with tonal colours. Or adding a simple scenic background. A scenic background will incur some additional cost.
- Some frames are held in stock which can be placed over the finished painting. This gives you a really good indication of how the finished piece will look. I only use real wood frames which can be painted or stained to any colour of your choice.
“An original custom piece of artwork bespoke to you“.To last a lifetime
Where possible I will work to standard frame sizes although custom sizes can be arranged and for multiple pets this may be necessary.
Pastels as a medium are extremely delicate therefore it maybe easier for me to do your framing. I am also happy to post unframed but do recommend you seek an experienced framer.
Paintings are stepped away from the glass using spacers in the frame rebate as opposed to mounting. This allows for any dust particles to fall into the recess. I use the finest pastels on the market which are lightfast against strong sunlight to resist fading. However, it is still recommended to hang your painting in a shaded position.
